The Major Arcana and their Hebrew Letters

In this video, I explain how each Major Arcana card is assigned to a Hebrew letter. The spiritual meaning of the letter is portrayed in the card's illustration. By simply knowing the meaning of the Hebrew letter, you're able to grasp the meaning each card's intricate symbolism. At first glance, the Major Arcana can be a bit overwhelming to comprehend. However, if you apply this system of understanding and interpretation, reading the Majors becomes a lot easier. This system of applying the Hebrew letters to the Major Arcana cards was created by Eliphas Levi back in 1854.

The Tower card is actually the Key to understanding how to read the Major Arcana. The Tower, with all its symbolism, portrays a Kabbalah Tree of Life that is crumbling. Therefore, this Tower can be seen as a 'spiritual tower.' And all its many symbols and other similar symbols that are found in all other Major Arcana cards is how you interpret the deeper spiritual meaning of the Majors. For instance, the crown on top of the tower coincides with Keter, the topmost sefirah on the Tree of Life (Keter, meaning crown). The tower itself represents the Tree's middle pillar, while the Adam and Eve characters represent the Tree's positive and negative pillars. The 22 fiery Yod's correspond to the Tree's 22 Paths. The 22 Paths correspond to the 22 Hebrew letters. And the lightning bolt represents the tzimtzum lightning bolt. And this is a bolt of inspiration, godly insight or epiphany. It can even pertain to a message from God.

The Hebrew letter assigned to The Tower card is Peh, meaning mouth. It was from God's mouth, the words and the sound, that struck Adam and Eve with such a great epiphany.

According to Kabbalah, God created the Universe with the power of sound. And used 22 frequencies to do so, which are represented by the 22 Hebrew letters. These letters are the building blocks of Creation. The Tarot's Major Arcana portray the essence of these letters within their illustrations. And by connecting to and meditating on these letters, we build up our spiritual towers, aka Kabbalah Tree of Life within our being.
